Armie Hammer may have played one half of a gay couple in the Oscar-winning Call Me by Your Name, but his real-life attempt at a hookup with another man didn’t exactly go as planned, and he’s not shy about sharing the details.
On the latest episode of The Armie HammerTime Podcast, the actor opened up about giving it a go with a guy, only to quickly realize it “did absolutely nothing” for him physically. Talk about a plot twist!
Before his short-lived experiment, Hammer joked that he’d pretty much concluded that “women are the worst” — a sentiment that came shortly after several women accused him of rape and abuse in 2021 (though no charges were filed).
He also had a few thoughts on the perks of being a gay guy in the dating world. According to Hammer, gay men have it made when it comes to sex and dating, casually popping into a bathroom for a quick encounter and then returning to dinner like it’s no big deal. “I was like, ‘You know what? I want to give this a try. Maybe this actually works for me,’” he said.
So, he decided to try out his curiosity after meeting a man he described as “handsome” and “French.” But things didn’t go quite as expected when Hammer got up close and personal with the guy’s beard and physical build.
“I remember I started making out with him and I just remember thinking, ‘God, beards!’” Hammer laughed. “I get why women like it when you shave. This thing is rough, how do I get in there?”
Well, that was short-lived! If you’re curious about the full breakdown, check out the latest episode of The Armie HammerTime Podcast.
